Full of colour, expressive, and natural—all attributes that characterize the guitar playing of Katrin Klingeberg, who had her first guitar lesson at the age of six. As a soloist and as a member of various chamber music ensembles, she has performed in many countries in Europe, South America, the USA and Japan.
While still at school she started her university studies at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, Germany. She continued her studies at the Universities of Music in Hanover, Lucerne and Weimar, most recently as a student of Prof. Thomas Müller-Pering at the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Weimar. Simultaneously she and Chilean guitarrist Sebastián Montes, her partner in the Klingeberg-Montes Guitar Duo, completed a Master’s degree followed by the Concert Exam in Chamber Music under the tutelage of the renowned Kaltchev Guitar Duo at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
Katrin Klingeberg and Sebastián Montes performed their first concert together in 2004 and the Klingeberg-Montes duo made its debut with an orchestra in 2005, interpreting the Concierto Madrigal by Joaquín Rodrigo. They have since won numerous first prizes in international competitions, and the KM Guitar Duo is now one of the most acclaimed guitar duos in the international guitar scene. In addition to giving concerts, Katrin Klingeberg is often invited to give master classes and be a jury member at international festivals and competitions.
In 2008 she recorded her solo CD, Recitál Español: five centuries of Spanish guitar music, and in 2010 the Duo’s CD Recital was released.
Katrin Klingeberg and Sebastián Montes moved to Santiago de Chile in April 2012, and return to Europe to perform several times per year, where they maintain a strong presence in the concert world.
